What to Wear to Work | Black + White

Getting through the winter months and looking stylish at the office can be difficult. Most mornings I wake up and want to throw on a chunky sweater and black trousers. What I've found, midway through the day I'm wishing I wore something else to the office. Something with more character and pizzazz! My sweater and trouser combo is acceptable on Mondays, but after that I'm trying to put more effort into what I wear throughout the week. It makes for a more successful day at the office.

Today's outfit is a perfect example of adding "pizzazz" to your outfit and getting rid of the "winter office blues". This bow is from ASOS and can be added to most collar shirts. It makes a boring office outfit stand out and gives you something to talk about with your colleagues. 

Quick question for my readers. How do you like my Monday series, one piece two ways? I'm thinking about continuing this series throughout the year, but wanted to get feedback and see if you enjoy this idea. As it warms up, I'll start be doing more outfits outdoors!

Day to Night | Printed Skirt

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I'm so excited to finally share the good news with my readers, I started a new job.  I'm still working in technology and of course, in the corporate world. Last week, I had training in San Francisco and didn't have time to post my regular schedule outfits.  However, I'm back in NYC and back to my regular schedule.

In today's post, I'm sharing two ways to wear a "fit and flare" printed skirt. What's great about a subtle printed skirt, it can be worn just about anywhere. From your 9-5 to your best friend's baby shower. Plus, it's a great excuse to switch out your traditional pencil skirt at the office. During the winter, adding tights transitions this fun skirt to a more conservative and office appropriate outfit. As for the night outfit, I love my over the knee boots. It adds length to my 5'1" body. In retrospect, I'd switch out the large structure bag for a small cross body.

This oversized button shirt from J.Crew is one of my staples pieces for the office. During the work week I can wear it under a black suit dress and on Fridays, I can wear it with a skinny pair of denim. This this can be worn on the weekendwith a pair of blue denim, like I wore here. I've also worn it tucked into a shirt, like here. If you like the length of the shirt, but prefer a shirt without pattern, you'll love this white and/or blue shirt from Ann Taylor. Last week I also picked up these DVF Bethany heels in black. The nude pumps became a staple in my closet, so I wanted to add the black patent to the collection, since I didn't own a pair of black pumps.
