What to Wear to Work | Peplum Dress

Hope everyone enjoyed yesterday's post with Who What Wear (ps. the flowers were used to brighten up the look for spring). Not living near a Target, I missed the original release of the collection, so I was thrilled to get my hands on a few newly released pieces. One of my favorite pieces in the collection is the floral pencil skirt. Admittedly, when I first saw the skirt it wasn't my top choice. It wasn't until I tried it on that I realized how well it fit my body. The skirt might be a little too colorful for a traditional corporate office, but I love the idea of wearing it with an off the shoulder top and statements earrings. As soon as it warms up in New York, I'll be sharing the look.

Today I'm sharing a classic office outfit. This cotton/linen peplum dress is lightweight and a little different than your standard work dress. I paired it with a black blazer. I'm keeping today's outfit simple. Four pieces; dress, blazer, heels and bag. For the days you have nothing to wear, here's an easy outfit that will get you through the workday to afterwork drinks with friends.

Speaking of after work activities, for those days you have a happy hour or a work dinner, wear  chunkier heels, like the one I'm wearing today. The heel gives you more stability throughout the day and for the city girls, if you're meeting your friends at a local pub, there's no need to change into flats. These heels are easier to walk down the street in than skinny stilettos.

When I love a heel, I buy them in several colors. Like my DVF Bethany heels. I have them in black, nude, white, red and leopard. The Steve Madden Primpy heel is my new favorite. I got them in blackcamel and rust. They fit true to size. They're a little stiff when you first put them on, but I'd recommend wearing them around your house for a few hours before debuting them at the office.

What to Wear to Work | White Eyelet Dress

WHITE_6

As busy working women, we're always struggling between looking fashionable and saving money. Nowadays, it’s easy to lust after the latest trend.  We see it on every social media platform over and over again.  When we finally decide to make the purchase, we turn around only to find something else we “need”.  It’s a vicious cycle and I’m guilty of doing this all the time.

This tends to happen to me when the season changes, especially with my work  wardrobe. However, I found that when I invest in classic pieces that can be interchanged with the latest fashion trends, I get a lot more miles out of my wardrobe, without the significant cost.

The Who What Wear Collection at Target is a good example of how to stay on trend, without breaking the bank. You might have seen the collection on your latest Target  trip, if you haven’t, check it out the next time you’re in the store. The collection is  ongoing, so they’re will be new products arriving each month! What makes the  WWW collection so great is that the pieces are trendy for fashion and career focused women on a budget.

In this upcoming collection, I loved the eyelet dress, especially for a day to night  dress.  Now that it’s time to do a little spring cleaning, I’m tucking away my black  wool dresses and making room for fresh pieces for my work wardrobe. For years, I felt like I had to wear black pants and a polyester blouse to work, but we all know  just because we have a regular 9-to5 job doesn’t mean that our style has to suffer. The WWW collection is a great choice for all of us!

Here are a few of my favorite work pieces from the collection!

Featuring CoverGirl + PureWow | The Age of Elegance

In Partnership with CoverGirl + PureWow, today on Corporate Catwalk, we're celebrating women and the Age of Elegance!

As working women, we are confident and great at what we do. No longer do we view our age as just a number but rather an asset and something to be proud of.  We look good!  In partnership with CoverGirl + PureWow, we’re celebrating women and the Age of Elegance.

Since entering the business world, almost a decade ago, I went from being a young soft spoken girl in the workplace to a highly-skilled (sometimes outspoken) woman. When I started my career, there were very few highly visible women working within the corporate setting or founders of start-ups.  That has of course changed.  We’ve all seen the rise of successful women in the business world – Sheryl Sandberg, Safra Catz, Marissa Mayer, Payal Kadakia, and so many others from both large and small companies. These are the women who are paving the way for my success, for my niece’s success and hopefully one day my daughter’s success. These women are not always the women we see dressing up in suits to make it to their 8am meeting.  It’s also the full time mom, the entrepreneurs and the philanthropists out there.

Before graduating college, I remember asking my mom if she’d trade her age for being 21 again and she said, “No, because I love the woman I’ve become.” That was powerful, especially for someone entering the workplace. She truly defines Age of Elegance. Growing older means becoming more confidant, embracing your flaws and gaining wisdom and experience along the way.

PureWow and CoverGirl have joined forces to relay this message to women through their new line of foundation. In the video, I’m wearing CoverGirl + Olay Simply Ageless 3 in 1 Foundation. As a long time user of Olay (for day and night cream), the foundation hydrates and covers fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to improve your skin tone over time with the formula used in the foundation. It gives medium to high coverage, which I love, to conceal some of my freckles and even out my skin tone. The foundation lasts all day and will get any busy women through her workday.

Thank you so much to the PureWow and CoverGirl team, it was a pleasure working together and I enjoyed sharing what the Age of Elegance means to me. Be sure to head over to PureWow to see more inspiring stories from women some of our favorite some.

Thank you Covergirl for sponsoring and bringing today’s message!
