Sharing a more casual weekend look on Corporate Catwalk. On Tuesday, I wore a similar outfit, but more appropriate for your 9-5. Bookmark these looks for the spring and summer. Easy way to transition from day to night. Tonight I'm wearing this to meet friends for dinner in Chelsea. I'm going to switch out the grey denim for a darker wash, but like the overall look for my weekend style.
Wishing everyone a good weekend! I'm heading to the farmer's market on Saturday morning, in an effort to eat more organic and fresh food and then try and convince my best friend to adopt a puppy! I'll be on snapchat this weekend, if you'd like to follow along. My snapchat name is CorproatCatwalk (no -e in Corporate) and you can now chat me back! Can't wait to hear from you.
Keeping it simple today with a black and white look that can be worn on the weekends or after hours. This outfit can be worn to meet friends cocktail or dinner. When going out in the city, I like to bring a lightweight jacket in the spring, you never know if the temperature is going to drop a few degrees after a night out. The white cami and denim are spring appropriate, yet casual for most bars and restaurants.
Hope everyone is having a good week! We're half way there...
After my third winter in New York, I finally figured out there are five pieces I need in my winter wardrobe: chunky knit sweaters in black, grey and white, a camel coat and an oversized grey coat. Next year I'm going to spend a little more money upfront and forgo the random scarves, turtlenecks and low quality sweaters.
The same goes for spring, the five pieces that complete my wardrobe are a stripe shirt, white denim, (comfortable) nude wedges, trench coat and a white cami. Last year I bought a silk cami and wore it most of the year, but after wearing it a several times it started to show significant wear. I also stopped hand washing the top, instead I'd tossed it in the laundry with the rest of my whites (baaaad idea). This year there's a new white cami in my wardrobe, but I got something that had more details. You'll be seeing this top a lot this season. The frayed lace cami can be worn with blazers, denim or tucked into skirts. For a more office appropriate look, I wore it with a white duster vest.
If you're ever wondering how to change your typical work look, here's an easy way to add one accessory and change your entire outfit. I added a silk scarf to a navy does and finished the look with neutral pieces for the perfect spring outfit to wear to your next meeting.
For ladies on the more petite side, try a v-neck top or dress when adding a scarf. We're working with less, so we don't want out outfit to look too busy. If you want to try out this trend, but you're not sure if you're ready to show it off at the office, try adding to a white off-the shoulder top (like here & here). I finished the look with a bold lipstick from Revlon (in Love) for a pop of color.
On Monday, I shared a recent collaboration with Worth New York and this navy trench is one of my favorites pieces from the collection. The length is a little longer than most of my coats, but I love the length with denim and heels.
Here's an outfit I could wear daily to work and after hours. The neutrals and navy make it office appropriate, but also something that can be worn to dinner with friends. It's the perfect mix between business and casual.
One of the overarching themes on Corporate Catwalk is maximizing your wardrobe. This goes along with today's look. I'm wearing several staple pieces (new and old) from closet. The scarf, trench, loafers and satchel are a few things that I picked up last week. The shirt, denim and sunglasses are part of my daily wardrobe. This is a look that I wore while running errands in the city. The loafers and satchel are good when taking the train and carrying a bunch of bags on the subway.
The silk scarf is from Club Monaco, it's not available online, but here is an identical one from Forever 21. When it comes to these square silk scarves, I've seen every color and pattern, imaginable. The opted for the navy, since it acts as a neutral with my wardrobe. You might also like this style here and here.
The oversized trench is from Club Monaco (and currently on sale)! It's a little different than most of my structured trench coats. The material is lightweight and makes the perfect overcoat for those rainy days in the city. I also love this one here, here and here.
As for the pale pink loafers, they're ideal for commuting to work and running around the city. If you ever want trendy flats to wear to work, check out the collection at Zara. When I wear these faux snakeskin flats, I always get compliments on the color and texture.
Since it was time to switch out my standard "workbag", I decided to go with this pebbled leather satchel from Coach. If you haven't seen the newest arrivals at Coach, check them out here (I also picked up this satchel in black). The only con about this bag is that it's not big enough for my computer, but on the other hand it can be worn just about anywhere.
As for my staple pieces, my white button down shirt from Ann Taylor is the perfect length to be worn tucked or untucked with denim, skirts and trousers. I also wore it here, here and here. My AG distressed denim are typically worn on the weekend, but you can also seen them worn here and here. If you're 5'4 and below, I'd highly recommend AG denim ankle leggings. They're the perfect length for short girls! And finally my black Prada sunglasses, that were worn here, here and here. After three years, I somehow misplaced my original pair (I'm still convinced they're somewhere in my apartment). Luckily enough, I found the exact same pair on TheRealReal.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday and see you back here tomorrow!
Originally I was going to write How to Transition Your Work Wardrobe from Winter to Spring, instead I'm going to share five ways to brighten your mood and get rid of the winter blues!
Last month I just wasn't feeling life myself. I needed a mind, body and soul makeover. Every year around this time, this happens to me. The cold winter days drag on, I've gained some weight, I've stopped going to the gym and my eating habits are off.
One of my best friends texted me yesterday and said, "Olivia, I feel horrible." and encourage me to share my experience with my readers. Here are five things I did to make myself feel better and get ready for warmer months!
Improve your diet - less candy, pizza and soda. There were days that I was consuming small amounts of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. My body wasn't getting the nutrients it needed to be happy and healthy. As hard as it was, I said not to pizza and hello to a salad with chicken. One of my biggest improvements was less social drinking. Instead of meeting a friend for drinks, I'd meet them for coffee or a mani/pedi.
Get back to the gym - it took months to get motivated to get back to the gym. I finally broke and signed up for classpass and it's been one of the best decisions this year. I've been going five times a week and my entire mindset has changed. My routine is a mix of yoga, barre, HIIT and spin. I love the variety in my schedule.
Get off social media - while the rest of the world is taking vacations all over the world, we're sitting at our desk drinking our morning coffee. 99% of us are all in the same boat. The entire world is not going on vacation. Try and keep yourself grounded with social media, because everything you see isn't real. Also remember, comparing yourself to others is mentally exhausting!
Go to the salon - make time for yourself and get a facial, spray tan or just cut off those dead ends. Since my body hasn't had vitamin C in months, I decided to get some color on my skin. I booked an appointment at the nearest salon for a spray tan and I immediately felt better.
Get rid of stuff - that pile of stuff that's been sitting in your hallways, take it to the goodwill or donate it to a good cause. Last week I went through all my clothes and just decided to get rid of everything. Typically I sell things on Poshmark, but this time I decided it was time to donate, I didn't want to store the clothes till they're sold.
On the brighter side, I'm wearing a colorful outfit to transition to spring. The bold pumps and color skirt are a great way to look work appropriate, but also seasonally appropriate.
